TomorrowWorld is just upon the dawning of their third year, and the US festival continually sets the bar one notch higher each year. Despite the rise of tropical house, the festival has yet to host a stage specifically for the sun-soaked genre. TomorrowWorld announced that Australian tropical kingpin, Thomas Jack, will be hosting his own stage called Thomas Jack Presents.
The festival still has yet to reveal who he will have onboard, but with his tastemaking expertise endorsed by Pete Tong, the friends he will be playing with should be nothing short of stellar. In addition to the announcement, the Aussie house artisan forged an exclusive mix to celebrate the exciting stage announcement. Floating through tribal and tropical territories throughout the hour, this mix will take you straight into the island mindset with the help of Bakermat, Cassimm, and other tasteful house picks. Daft Punk is an electronic music duo consisting of French musicians Guy Manuel and Thomas Bangalter. Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990’s with house movement in France and has continued success in the years following. The group is known for using visual and story components associated with their musical productions, and for using disguises while in public and/or performing. They are specifically known for using ornate helmets and gloves to assume robot personas in most of their public appearances since 2001. The duo rarely grant interviews or appear on television. Last summer, BBC Worldwide France announced it was working on a documentary about Daft Punk.
The documentary, Daft Punk Unchained, has finally released a date and will air on French TV station Canal+ on June 24th. Directed by Hervé Martin Delpierre and co-written by Delpierre and Marina Rozenman, the documentary is set to feature appearances from Kanye West, Pharrell, Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Michel Gondry, Paul Williams, Todd Edwards, photographer Peter Lindbergh, Pete Tong, designer Tony Gardner, and artist Leiji Matsumoto. The pair’s former manager is also set to make an appearance in the form of an extended interview and may provide one of the most transparent looks into a name that has become synonymous with mystery. With this dynamic duo’s mystery and talent, everyone is eager for this documentary to be released and discover the mystery that lies underneath their disguises.
