Odesza are an American electronic music duo from Seattle consisting of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight. Their debut album, Summer’s Gone, was released in 2012 to much acclaim in the underground electronic music community. Following Summer’s Gone, Odesza released their first EP in 2013 entitled, My Friends Never Die, followed by their second LP, In Return, in 2014. Their name has an interesting story behind the meaning- Odesza is coincidentally the Hungarian spelling for the city of Odessa, Ukraine. The band’s name, however is taken from the name from Mills’ uncle’s ship, which sank. Only his Uncle and one other crew mate survived. Since the spelling “Odessa” was already being used by a Scottish synth band, they instead chose to use the Hungarian spelling, replacing the “ss” with “sz”.
They are still currently busy out on the road, and yet the first phase of their forthcoming ‘In Return’ world tour has already been revealed. With major festivals like Governors Ball, Bonnaroo and Coachella under their belts, the Seattle pair will enjoy a mere 19 days of R&R before traveling to destinations including New Zealand, Paris, Cologne and Amsterdam. From October 30 until December 5, Odesza will make their long-awaited return to North America as part of their largest headlining tour of their careers thus far. Don’t miss out on this dynamic duo’s music and be sure to check out the full list of tour dates below, with more shows to be announced toward the end of the summer!

Burning man isn’t your usual festival. It’s a city wherein almost everything that happens is created entirely by its citizens, who are active participants in the experience. There are over 5 1/2 square miles of desert turned over as a blank canvas and filled with all manner of incredible art, weird and wonderful people to watch and events and workshops to try. Everyone is an individual at this festival but dressing trends and tribes have developed over the years. There is all kind of debauchery and games that you won’t want to miss out on. Participants join in the effort to co-create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to art and community. The people who make up Black Rock City are not just attendees, they are active participants in every sense of the word: they create the city, the interaction, the art, the performance and ultimately the experience that is Burning Man. Fire art is part of the essential fabric of Black Rock City. Fire is incorporated into art installations, theme camps, and many performances.
The theme of this years Burning man is about mirrors and masks, mazes and merger. It will be a kind of magic show that takes the form of an old-fashioned carnival. This Carnival of Mirrors asks three essential questions: within our media-saturated world, where products and people, consumption and communion morph into an endlessly diverting spectacle, who is the trickster, who is being tricked, and how might we discover who we really are? Burning Man’s carnival, will perform an even more subversive trick- its motto is Include the Rube. The wall dividing the observer from observed will disappear, as by an act of magic; through the alchemy of interaction, everyone at once can be the carny and the fool.
This year a funhouse at the center of the carnival will contemplate the puzzle of self-consciousness. Many kinds of masks and mirrors will line the corridors and chambers of this interactive maze. Here people will confront a shuffled deck of selves: the me they want to be (but aren’t), the me they repudiate (but are), the me they can’t imagine (but might be). At the heart of this disorienting maze, a final passage will reveal a courtyard that surrounds the Burning Man. Photo booths will record the faces of participants, merging them into a swirling stream that will envelop the entire body of the Man. The brittle mirror and the occulting mask will melt away, and at this point there’ll be no gag, no swag, no souvenir of self; the show will be you.
The main event, the burning of the Man, is on September 7th. Festival-goers gather to watch the ceremonial burn as fireworks and flame throwers circle him. Many participants in the festival attach a great deal of meaning to the festival’s climax: it supports the “leave no trace” mantra and has spiritual significance to some. The burning of the Man is a spectacle and breathtaking event and a fitting finale for a strange, immense and unforgettable experience of a lifetime.
Burning Man takes place August 30- September 7, 2015 in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. Click below for an epic video of the time-relapse of the Burning Man festival. The only limits of Burning Man’s 10 principles are the bounds of your imagination so make sure you get your tickets for the unforgettable experience of a lifetime!
Josh Wink is an electronic music DJ, label owner, producer, remixer, and an artist. He is a native of Philadelphia and a pioneering DJ in the American rave scene during the early 1990’s, Wink was the most prominent exponent of the tribal forms of techno and house in the U.S. Taking trends, making trends, and breaking trends, Josh Wink’s music has always experimented and influenced. The sound of Josh Wink today remains one of a man unafraid to walk the border between stylistic boundaries. Steve Bug is a German DJ and music producer in the field of minimal house. His DJ skills and a keen, innovative ear led him not down the typical path of the early nineties trance and harder dance scene, but instead towards a fresher, hybrid sound-merging stripped deep house, tweaked out acid and more minimal forms of techno and electronic music.
These two talented DJs are coming together to participate in a series of four back-to-back performances at Kehakuma on the legendary terrace of Space Ibiza. Bug’s house-meets-techno sound has served as a driving force behind today’s commonly dubbed “Berlin sound,” and represents a natural compliment to Wink’s acid-edged genre-blending brand of house. The first of the four exclusive back-to-back performances will take place this Saturday, June 13, with support form Radio Slave and Javi Bora. The remaining three sets will follow each month with dates on July 11, August 8 and September 12. Don’t miss out on these four unforgettable performances by these two unique and talented DJs!
Want a proper bedroom DJ booth but not wanting to pay the pretty penny? DJ Puzzle has a solution: build your dream booth with parts from IKEA. Inspired by a guide from DJ Tech Tools circa 2011, DJ Puzzle has created an in-depth guide to constructing a DJ booth via ready-to-assemble furniture. The setup centers around a Kallax Bookshelf, which, aside from providing a stable foundation for one’s gear, also affords ample storage space for things like equipment or records. The total cost comes out to about $200, and, as detailed in the video, is not as daunting to assemble as one might think. Many DJs spend much of their time at home, in the studio or the in bedroom creating their sets. In the process, DJs have spent a great deal of money on the latest and greatest DJ gear. Luckily DJ Puzzle has assembled a way for you to receive the benefit of an awesome home audio desk without spending a hefty amount. IKEA also has other products that are useful such as some multi-color LED strips for some additional lighting in the darkness. If you’re the least bit serious about mastering your mixing skills, then take the time to check out the video below for creating your own audio desk!
The Swedish duo, Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom, came together in 2006, combining pop-leaning electro sounds and an over-the-top attitude. This eccentric duo injects their EDM with humor that fills dance floors to its capacity. They don’t care about genres. They don’t care about smartness. They don’t care about the things you care about. They just care about making their audience wanting to jump up and down all night long. Their single “The Fashionista Swindle” parodied the Sex Pistols with its artwork, “The Great Smorgasbord” introduced their love of processed meat, while “Do the Dada” introduced their love of being self-referential. Any song they choose to play fills the floor wherever the hottest electro is welcomed. They went official in 2009 with their debut album, Just Do The Dada, released by the Hussle label and featuring track titles like “Don’t Snort the Yellow Snow” and “So You Wanna Be a Prankster?” Their tour that followed after their album release, introduced Europe to their kinetic live shows where inflatables flew through the crowd, booking agents were forced to “Do the Dada” themselves, and the duo’s tour rider stated that the backstage area must be filled with champagne and bananas or the venue was punished with a tech-house set.
In 2010, they toured with Tiesto, playing remixes from Kylie Minogue to Chickenfoot and collaborating with Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, and Tara McDonald. In 2011 they headlined the Electric Daisy Festival in Los Angeles with a full marching band to perform their song “White Noise/Red Meat”. In July 2014, Dada Life debuted Dada Land: The Voyage, a mini-festival in San Bernardino, CA attended by over 10,000 fans where the duo arrived via hot air balloon. Dada Life will be gracing New York City tonight with their unique and enviable beats. Be sure to join this hilarious and extremely talented duo tonight at LAVO NYC for an unforgettable night. As Dada Life would say, “Destroy dance music and have fun. Don’t look back in the past. Always go forward. Don’t think too much. Always follow the money”.
