Highlighting a charged path from Moscow to Miami, the Russian innovative trio who amplify the progressive and electronic house sound are known as Swanky Tunes. The group formed in 1998, experimenting with different electronic styles in pursuit of their own sound. At first, there were techno sounds mixed with vintage synthesizers. Then the group moved into a distinctly big-beat influenced sound. These days, hints of the techno, electro-80’s, and the contemporary progressive house movements are all finding their way into the mix.
With their uplifting anthemic sound, the Smolensk based music pioneers deliver dance floor bangers to nightclubs and festivals around the globe. Whether it be in the studio, on stage, or the global music charts, the Showland label headliners are at the forefront of electronic dance music. Swanky Tunes will be headlining at Highline Ballroom Friday July 24th. Don’t miss out on an epic night with this dynamic trio spinning tunes all night long! This past weekend, Kaskade made the most out of his main stage set at EDC Las Vegas by testing out a new track on the masses. Those who missed out can listen to the live rip below.
About halfway into his performance atop the kineticFIELD stage, he introduces “Disarm You,” to audiences for the first time, ushering in snares and elevated chord progressions that carry singer Ilsey’s vocals to a euphoric high. Little is known of the Californian singer-songwriter, though she was featured in Robin Schulz’s melodic hit, “Headlights,” previous to her work with Kaskade.
“Disarm You” was just one of many tracks to receive massive fanfare during Kaskade’s main stage romp. His tracklist (which he posted on Facebook) consisted heavily of his own music, including festival staples such as “Never Sleep Alone,” “Last Chance” and “We Don’t Stop,” along with some mash-ups and his ever-contentious remix of Jack Ü’s Justin Bieber collaboration “Where Are Ü Now.”
In addition to his main stage appearance, he also performed a sunrise Redux set that same night. Check out his track, “Disarm You”, below.

A few days ago, trance fans in Los Angeles were greeted to a welcome surprise. According to multiple sources, clubbers found fliers on the street announcing Insomniac Event’s newest festival, Dreamstate. According to the flier, the festival will be entirely dedicated to trance music; this is the first time Insomniac has ever catered to the genre in such a way.
Furthermore, it seems the event producer has chosen to go the route of raves happening in the early ’90s and early 2000′s — no official announcement has been made on the company website, and it seems the only solid proof that the festival is real came from a posting by Motive Events on Facebook.
The festival will take place somewhere in Southern California for two days right after Thanksgiving. Obviously, the lineup remains to be seen. Considering Insomniac’s more recent trance lineups have featured an array of artists from across the trance spectrum, fans are speculating it will more than likely be satisfactory for everyone. The fact alone that Insomniac is throwing a festival with a purely trance lineup is huge; such festivals are rarely seen outside of Europe or some parts of South America.
Stay tuned for more development on what will hopefully be an incredible new festival!

Burning man isn’t your usual festival. It’s a city wherein almost everything that happens is created entirely by its citizens, who are active participants in the experience. There are over 5 1/2 square miles of desert turned over as a blank canvas and filled with all manner of incredible art, weird and wonderful people to watch and events and workshops to try. Everyone is an individual at this festival but dressing trends and tribes have developed over the years. There is all kind of debauchery and games that you won’t want to miss out on. Participants join in the effort to co-create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to art and community. The people who make up Black Rock City are not just attendees, they are active participants in every sense of the word: they create the city, the interaction, the art, the performance and ultimately the experience that is Burning Man. Fire art is part of the essential fabric of Black Rock City. Fire is incorporated into art installations, theme camps, and many performances.
The theme of this years Burning man is about mirrors and masks, mazes and merger. It will be a kind of magic show that takes the form of an old-fashioned carnival. This Carnival of Mirrors asks three essential questions: within our media-saturated world, where products and people, consumption and communion morph into an endlessly diverting spectacle, who is the trickster, who is being tricked, and how might we discover who we really are? Burning Man’s carnival, will perform an even more subversive trick- its motto is Include the Rube. The wall dividing the observer from observed will disappear, as by an act of magic; through the alchemy of interaction, everyone at once can be the carny and the fool.
This year a funhouse at the center of the carnival will contemplate the puzzle of self-consciousness. Many kinds of masks and mirrors will line the corridors and chambers of this interactive maze. Here people will confront a shuffled deck of selves: the me they want to be (but aren’t), the me they repudiate (but are), the me they can’t imagine (but might be). At the heart of this disorienting maze, a final passage will reveal a courtyard that surrounds the Burning Man. Photo booths will record the faces of participants, merging them into a swirling stream that will envelop the entire body of the Man. The brittle mirror and the occulting mask will melt away, and at this point there’ll be no gag, no swag, no souvenir of self; the show will be you.
The main event, the burning of the Man, is on September 7th. Festival-goers gather to watch the ceremonial burn as fireworks and flame throwers circle him. Many participants in the festival attach a great deal of meaning to the festival’s climax: it supports the “leave no trace” mantra and has spiritual significance to some. The burning of the Man is a spectacle and breathtaking event and a fitting finale for a strange, immense and unforgettable experience of a lifetime.
Burning Man takes place August 30- September 7, 2015 in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. Click below for an epic video of the time-relapse of the Burning Man festival. The only limits of Burning Man’s 10 principles are the bounds of your imagination so make sure you get your tickets for the unforgettable experience of a lifetime!
Josh Wink is an electronic music DJ, label owner, producer, remixer, and an artist. He is a native of Philadelphia and a pioneering DJ in the American rave scene during the early 1990’s, Wink was the most prominent exponent of the tribal forms of techno and house in the U.S. Taking trends, making trends, and breaking trends, Josh Wink’s music has always experimented and influenced. The sound of Josh Wink today remains one of a man unafraid to walk the border between stylistic boundaries. Steve Bug is a German DJ and music producer in the field of minimal house. His DJ skills and a keen, innovative ear led him not down the typical path of the early nineties trance and harder dance scene, but instead towards a fresher, hybrid sound-merging stripped deep house, tweaked out acid and more minimal forms of techno and electronic music.
These two talented DJs are coming together to participate in a series of four back-to-back performances at Kehakuma on the legendary terrace of Space Ibiza. Bug’s house-meets-techno sound has served as a driving force behind today’s commonly dubbed “Berlin sound,” and represents a natural compliment to Wink’s acid-edged genre-blending brand of house. The first of the four exclusive back-to-back performances will take place this Saturday, June 13, with support form Radio Slave and Javi Bora. The remaining three sets will follow each month with dates on July 11, August 8 and September 12. Don’t miss out on these four unforgettable performances by these two unique and talented DJs!
