Odesza are an American electronic music duo from Seattle consisting of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight. Their debut album, Summer’s Gone, was released in 2012 to much acclaim in the underground electronic music community. Following Summer’s Gone, Odesza released their first EP in 2013 entitled, My Friends Never Die, followed by their second LP, In Return, in 2014. Their name has an interesting story behind the meaning- Odesza is coincidentally the Hungarian spelling for the city of Odessa, Ukraine. The band’s name, however is taken from the name from Mills’ uncle’s ship, which sank. Only his Uncle and one other crew mate survived. Since the spelling “Odessa” was already being used by a Scottish synth band, they instead chose to use the Hungarian spelling, replacing the “ss” with “sz”.
They are still currently busy out on the road, and yet the first phase of their forthcoming ‘In Return’ world tour has already been revealed. With major festivals like Governors Ball, Bonnaroo and Coachella under their belts, the Seattle pair will enjoy a mere 19 days of R&R before traveling to destinations including New Zealand, Paris, Cologne and Amsterdam. From October 30 until December 5, Odesza will make their long-awaited return to North America as part of their largest headlining tour of their careers thus far. Don’t miss out on this dynamic duo’s music and be sure to check out the full list of tour dates below, with more shows to be announced toward the end of the summer!

A few days ago, trance fans in Los Angeles were greeted to a welcome surprise. According to multiple sources, clubbers found fliers on the street announcing Insomniac Event’s newest festival, Dreamstate. According to the flier, the festival will be entirely dedicated to trance music; this is the first time Insomniac has ever catered to the genre in such a way.
Furthermore, it seems the event producer has chosen to go the route of raves happening in the early ’90s and early 2000′s — no official announcement has been made on the company website, and it seems the only solid proof that the festival is real came from a posting by Motive Events on Facebook.
The festival will take place somewhere in Southern California for two days right after Thanksgiving. Obviously, the lineup remains to be seen. Considering Insomniac’s more recent trance lineups have featured an array of artists from across the trance spectrum, fans are speculating it will more than likely be satisfactory for everyone. The fact alone that Insomniac is throwing a festival with a purely trance lineup is huge; such festivals are rarely seen outside of Europe or some parts of South America.
Stay tuned for more development on what will hopefully be an incredible new festival!
To help attendees cope with the post-Tomorrowland Brasil blues, Elite Daily and T-Mobile teamed up with the festival to release a special short film following two festival-goers from their daily lives into the realm of Tomorrow and back to reality.
The short film also debuts three unreleased tracks: “Portland” by an unidentified producer, “Wake Up” by Jay Hardway, and “Zero Gravity” by Borgeous featuring Lights — all of which are sure to be heard at the forthcoming Tomorrowland in Belgium and TomorrowWorld in Georgia. If that’s not enough, the video was released alongside a TomorrowWorld contest for fans to win an all-inclusive VIP package for four including passes, two Easy Tents, and a helicopter tour of the grounds at the festival in September.
Still want more from Tomorrowland Brasil? Don’t worry we have you covered. Tomorrowland has released the after-movie for its inaugural edition in Brasil. The 11-minute clip shows what Tomorrowland does best — big crowds, big DJs and big production. The short film primarily is focused on the main stage where you have the biggest production and the most well-known names, but also shows some overhead shots of the camp grounds and a few other stages on the lush grounds just outside of Sao Paolo. ID&T, the company who produced Tomorrowland, also has a teasing announcements for Mexico and India. At the end of the video, the dates for the 2016 edition of the 3-day event is also announced. Re-live Tomorrowland with these two short films to reminisce on the fond memories of Tomorrowland Brasil!
The Sonic Bed provides a full body psychedelic musical experience that you won’t want to miss out on!
Sound artist Kaffe Matthews has been experimenting with different electro-acoustic material for over two decades in an attempt to explore new ideas of musical perception. One of her more interesting conceptions is the Sonic Bed. Part of the Music For Bodies collaborative research project, it’s a large, wooden structure with high fidelity speakers embedded into the framework. Almost like an isolation tank set to a backdrop of psychedelic soundscapes, it provides a meditative space where two listeners can interact with sound as a full-body experience.
Sonic Bed is also an instrument, to be played by anyone who is interested, to make pieces for it using the specially developed software interface, built by and being developed in collaboration with David Muth. This interface enables the maker to draw and record sounds through the 12 channel sound system hidden under the mattress while lying in it. 12 independent sources of sound can be playing and moving independently at any one time simultaneously while lying in the bed.
Created by Matthews as a museum exhibit (no plans for retail as of yet), the bed requires 220 volts of electricity and covers every inch of your body in sound. Throw in a flat-panel TV and you will never leave bed again.

Josh Wink is an electronic music DJ, label owner, producer, remixer, and an artist. He is a native of Philadelphia and a pioneering DJ in the American rave scene during the early 1990’s, Wink was the most prominent exponent of the tribal forms of techno and house in the U.S. Taking trends, making trends, and breaking trends, Josh Wink’s music has always experimented and influenced. The sound of Josh Wink today remains one of a man unafraid to walk the border between stylistic boundaries. Steve Bug is a German DJ and music producer in the field of minimal house. His DJ skills and a keen, innovative ear led him not down the typical path of the early nineties trance and harder dance scene, but instead towards a fresher, hybrid sound-merging stripped deep house, tweaked out acid and more minimal forms of techno and electronic music.
These two talented DJs are coming together to participate in a series of four back-to-back performances at Kehakuma on the legendary terrace of Space Ibiza. Bug’s house-meets-techno sound has served as a driving force behind today’s commonly dubbed “Berlin sound,” and represents a natural compliment to Wink’s acid-edged genre-blending brand of house. The first of the four exclusive back-to-back performances will take place this Saturday, June 13, with support form Radio Slave and Javi Bora. The remaining three sets will follow each month with dates on July 11, August 8 and September 12. Don’t miss out on these four unforgettable performances by these two unique and talented DJs!
Want a proper bedroom DJ booth but not wanting to pay the pretty penny? DJ Puzzle has a solution: build your dream booth with parts from IKEA. Inspired by a guide from DJ Tech Tools circa 2011, DJ Puzzle has created an in-depth guide to constructing a DJ booth via ready-to-assemble furniture. The setup centers around a Kallax Bookshelf, which, aside from providing a stable foundation for one’s gear, also affords ample storage space for things like equipment or records. The total cost comes out to about $200, and, as detailed in the video, is not as daunting to assemble as one might think. Many DJs spend much of their time at home, in the studio or the in bedroom creating their sets. In the process, DJs have spent a great deal of money on the latest and greatest DJ gear. Luckily DJ Puzzle has assembled a way for you to receive the benefit of an awesome home audio desk without spending a hefty amount. IKEA also has other products that are useful such as some multi-color LED strips for some additional lighting in the darkness. If you’re the least bit serious about mastering your mixing skills, then take the time to check out the video below for creating your own audio desk!
