Kaskade known throughout the years for his gratifying electronic progressive house music has taken this year and his fans by storm. Kaskade heavily sought after for many festivals from Ultra to EDC and shows that sell out in a blink of an eye, has went on tour again on his own. While in the midst of hitting up shows all across North America and promoting his upcoming album “Automatic” which is to hit stores on Sept. 25, is creating a movement on his own. America has spoken and in 2008 & 2011 Kaskade has been held in high regard as one of America’s Best DJ’s stemming from major hits such as “4AM” and “I remember” with deadmau5. With other numerous hits to grab the Top 10 spot of Billboard’s Hot Dance Airplay Chart as well.
Kaskade explodes on the scene once again this year and for all you New Yorker fans, you can see Kaskade on October 24 at Pier 94. Last year’s “It’s You, It’s Me” Redux Tour, he came through as a tornado, by simply playing at smaller venues and clubs promoting the art of energy that he calls lost yet created his flourishing beginnings. He calls this a reversal of time, in hopes of trying to bring back the purity of house music for what it once was. Restrained lights, deep and emotive house is what Kaskade seems to still be aiming for this year come again.

Major Lazer is an electronic music group created by record producer Diplo, with current members Jillionaire and Walshy Fire. Also, Boaz van de Beatz and Jr. Blender often contribute to the groups projects, even though they are not official members. Initially the English DJ and producer Switch was part of the group, but the two parted ways in late 2011. Their music spans numerous genres, usually fusing reggae and dancehall music with dance genres such as electro house. Major Lazer has had quite a year thus far, from linking up with DJ Snake and MO for “Lean On”, which continues to be one of the biggest hits of the year so far, to claiming the number 1 spot on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart with Peace is the Mission.
Major Lazer has switched spots with Jamie XX’s In Colour, to take the rightful place with their latest hit. Walshy Fire, Jillionaire, and Diplo have announced that a follow up record is due later this year, which could also claim the top spot on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Album in the future. On top of everything that is going on for Major Lazer, they just released an official remix from Vanic of the opening track from the album, “Be Together”, which gives an overall unique sound to the track. Be sure to listen to the remix below as well as Major Lazer’s Peace is the Mission. Stay tuned for the future endeavors that Major Lazer has in store for their fans!
Odesza are an American electronic music duo from Seattle consisting of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight. Their debut album, Summer’s Gone, was released in 2012 to much acclaim in the underground electronic music community. Following Summer’s Gone, Odesza released their first EP in 2013 entitled, My Friends Never Die, followed by their second LP, In Return, in 2014. Their name has an interesting story behind the meaning- Odesza is coincidentally the Hungarian spelling for the city of Odessa, Ukraine. The band’s name, however is taken from the name from Mills’ uncle’s ship, which sank. Only his Uncle and one other crew mate survived. Since the spelling “Odessa” was already being used by a Scottish synth band, they instead chose to use the Hungarian spelling, replacing the “ss” with “sz”.
They are still currently busy out on the road, and yet the first phase of their forthcoming ‘In Return’ world tour has already been revealed. With major festivals like Governors Ball, Bonnaroo and Coachella under their belts, the Seattle pair will enjoy a mere 19 days of R&R before traveling to destinations including New Zealand, Paris, Cologne and Amsterdam. From October 30 until December 5, Odesza will make their long-awaited return to North America as part of their largest headlining tour of their careers thus far. Don’t miss out on this dynamic duo’s music and be sure to check out the full list of tour dates below, with more shows to be announced toward the end of the summer!
The Sonic Bed provides a full body psychedelic musical experience that you won’t want to miss out on!
Sound artist Kaffe Matthews has been experimenting with different electro-acoustic material for over two decades in an attempt to explore new ideas of musical perception. One of her more interesting conceptions is the Sonic Bed. Part of the Music For Bodies collaborative research project, it’s a large, wooden structure with high fidelity speakers embedded into the framework. Almost like an isolation tank set to a backdrop of psychedelic soundscapes, it provides a meditative space where two listeners can interact with sound as a full-body experience.
Sonic Bed is also an instrument, to be played by anyone who is interested, to make pieces for it using the specially developed software interface, built by and being developed in collaboration with David Muth. This interface enables the maker to draw and record sounds through the 12 channel sound system hidden under the mattress while lying in it. 12 independent sources of sound can be playing and moving independently at any one time simultaneously while lying in the bed.
Created by Matthews as a museum exhibit (no plans for retail as of yet), the bed requires 220 volts of electricity and covers every inch of your body in sound. Throw in a flat-panel TV and you will never leave bed again.

M.A.N.D.Y. is a Berlin-based Microhouse, minimal house, techno group consisting of the talented duo, Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung. There is an air of mystery of the true meaning behind the acronym M.A.N.D.Y., which is an alias that embodies the mutual talents of these two childhood friends. They readily indulge this curiosity by toying with various clever possibilities, including Me AND You, but the truth is likely a meaning of their individual talents that has not been made to the public. Their ultimate expression of their dance music phenomenon is attributed to their foot stamping and hair flying techniques. They have a unique niche in electronic music by consistently selecting productions that induce their audience into a somatic frenzy.
M.A.N.D.Y. joined Booka Shade and DJ T to create the Get Physical Records and produced a caliber of electricity that rippled throughout the EDM community and into the relative mainstream that started first in Frankfurt and then in Berlin and now all over the world. When all three groups joined forces, they have pushed the boundaries of dance music to compile an enviable arsenal of electro kissing house while caressing disco and flirting with techno. With Booka Shade, M.A.N.D.Y was responsible for the club hit “Body Language,” which was named “Ibiza Track of the Season 2005” and has been licensed to more than 100 compilations. M.A.N.D.Y continues to power through with a perpetual rebirth into pulsating beats and pretty lights.
This dynamic duo are some of the most heavily booked house-DJs in Germany and continually gaining recognition internationally. Get Physical label released Hausmusik Vol. 1 last year with the idea of creating music well-suited for home enjoyment as well as on sweaty dance floors. The home listening series returns this month for a second time with the release of Hausmusik Vol. 2 with cuts from James Holden, M.A.N.D.Y. and Francesco Tristano to demonstrate the professional sound systems and sweaty dance floor antiques from the comfort of your home or a private party for an intimate selection of people and music. Don’t miss out on Get Physical label curator M.A.N.D.Y (Phillipp Jung) at Up & Down (244 W 14th St, New York, New York 10011) in NYC for this week’s installment of the Porn Shop. He will be joined by 2 other special guests alone with ZigZag regular Bru. Get ready for a night of mind boggling music with a dash of deep seductive vibes. Don’t miss an epic performance and be sure to click below to hear one of their latest remixes! RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org
